Old Fashioned Orange SauceDesserts
1 cup sugar Mix sugar, orange juice, orange rind, and butter in a saucepan. Heat slowly until butter has melted. Remove from heat; add a little of the mixture to the beaten eggs; then pour this into the remaining sauce in the pan. Cook slowly until sauce thickens, stirring constantly. Serve over cake, ice cream, or gingerbread. Lemon juice and rind can be substituted for orange. Makes 1 1/2 cups. Texas Department of Agriculture
